At Design in Latitude we offer a comprehensive range of services to help you to achieve the optimum result you are looking for.  We will help you to realise all your hopes  and dreams for your garden, defining exactly what you want so that the space reflects your needs, personality and taste in addition to performing various practical functions.
As each project is unique, we offer a flexible design service depending on your requirements.  Advice is given for projects of all sizes.  You may wish to have advice on the choice of plants for your border or perhaps there is a particular problem you are finding difficult to solve but don’t require a full design.  You can ask for advice on any aspect of your garden.

DESIGN CONSULTATION & ADVICE

An initial consultation is the first step.  This offers an opportunity for you to meet us in order to discuss your requirements and expectations for the garden and allows us to clarify certain key issues such as the garden size, style & period of your property, unique features of the space and surrounding environment.  We will spend time with you discussing and formulating the brief, show you our portfolio, walk around the garden and take comprehensive notes and photos.
Following this meeting a detailed brief is drawn up and submitted with a written quotation for the Design Fee.  On receipt of your acceptance, we proceed to the next stage.

SITE SURVEYS & ANALYSIS

Before commencing the design we carry out a measured survey.  The information collected on the survey is used to produce an accurate plan of the garden or site.
Depending on the size and complexity of the site we may sometimes enlist a professional surveyor whose fee would be included in the original quote.
Additionally, analysis information will also be collected to identify site environmental conditions.
This information together with the brief will form the basis of the concept design and we can proceed to the next stage.

CONCEPT DESIGN

The brief together with the analysis data collected will form the basis of the concept design.  The concept design does not include all of the detailing, but will provide you with a clear idea of the proposal and give you an indication of how things will look. These will be presented to you in a series of presentation drawings including a scale sketch plan, perspective drawings and mood boards suggesting materials, planting, lighting and other features to be used.
This is an important stage within the design process, your feedback here will be invaluable so we will be listening to your reactions to the design, only moving on to the next stage once everyone is happy.

DETAILED DESIGN DRAWINGS

Once the concept design scheme has been agreed, final, highly detailed design drawings will be created including; artist impression visuals, detail setting-out design plans and cross-sections, lighting , drainage plans and construction drawings  for all the hard landscaping elements, i.e., walls, steps, pergolas etc.  In addition to the design and construction drawings we prepare a written specifications/scope of works document to enable landscape contractors to submit itemised quotations for the building of your garden.

PLANTING DESIGN

Planting design is much more than a cosmetic overlay, it works as a vital element for integrating buildings and structures into the man-made environment reducing their overall visual intrusiveness whilst also complimenting their architectural features and creating sympathetic links to the outer landscape.  Beyond its environmental and aesthetic purposes planting design also offers a variety of enjoyable sensory experiences and can create spaces with distinct moods and atmospheres.  Essentially, to design with plants provides a wonderful opportunity to take nature to the drawing board.
Plants are living materials, constantly evolving over time, each displaying their own unique set of characteristics and requirements.  Therefore, when we prepare the planting plans we take into consideration the growing conditions of the site; the visual and spatial qualities of the plants; and the sensory experience to be achieved; species are then chosen for their overall suitability to the design.
The planting plans will detail the plant varieties to be used, the numbers required and the correct spacing for their growth requirements.
We can source and supply high quality, specialist plants at competitive rates and will personally arrange them in your garden prior to planting.
Additionally, we will provide you with a detailed plant profile brochure which will assist with the ongoing maintenance of the garden.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT

We can assist in the process of engaging a suitable landscape company for all the construction work should the build contract be going out to tender.
It is particularly important that an experienced and knowledgeable landscaper is appointed to carry out the construction and based on the design drawings we produce, they will be able to provide you with a fixed quotation for the construction work.
To give you peace of mind and ensure that the project remains within the budget and on schedule we can monitor the progress of work on site until completion to ensure the satisfactory outcome of the design.
Full details of this service will be discussed at the initial consultation.

GARDEN MAINTENANCE

Since a garden is an organic thing it will require some on-going maintenance to ensure the garden remains at its full potential.  Along with our plant profile and maintenance brochure we can develop and implement a customised schedule of care for every element of your garden be it regular upkeep or occasional.

PRODUCT SOURCING

We are able to design and source any product or accessory for your garden, from bespoke water features to garden furniture making it totally unique and personal to you.
